Gold and the Shogun’s Vision
Kinkaku-ji is more than a photo stop. Admire its golden reflection and discover how the pavilion’s three-tiered design, mirror pond, and distant mountains come together to express the vision and ambition of a powerful shogun.
Reading a Garden of Stone
Step into a quiet buddhist garden at Daitoku-ji and learn how carefully placed stones, raked gravel, and empty space invite reflection and interpretation. As an expression of “wabi-sabi”, its simplicity leaves room for the imagination.
