Climb the Umagaeshi route
Before the advent of cars and railways, reaching Mount Fuji’s summit required a long trek on foot. And, horses could only ascend halfway due to the steep terrain. Therefore, there used to be many huts, stone monuments, and stone markers to welcome climbers, and the route to the fifth station was very crowded. This original pilgrimage path fell into disuse after the construction of the Fuji-Subaru Line for vehicles. However, recent efforts to maintain and revitalize this historic pilgrimage route have seen a gradual increase in visitors.
